Fishing the Tees at Broken Scar, this is my first real Barbel of the river.
I am normaly a Chub fisherman and catch around 50/60 a session at the same location.
But Friday was a night to remember my first attempt was greeted by a huge bite which almost ended with my Rod in the river.
I just managed to grab the butt end of my Cormaron 1 1/2oz specialist power float road.
The Okuma Zirkon Reel and its 9 bearings screamed away.
The fish was on and wow what a scrap.
Slowly the Barbel was reeled in, Whoosh off it went again.
Ducking diving dragging my Rod and line all over the River for around 10 mins.
Then with the help of my able mate Jock also fishing the the beast of the River.
We got bobby in the net. It was weighed by jock in his new weigh sack and scales.
Though i think he has some dodgy scales cause they only read 4lb 8 oz.
Looked a good 7 or 8 to me but who cares i have never had a fish on line like it.
Hutchy was a very happy lad lets say. |
